STRAPPED.
Strapped is a portrait series that explores the emotional terrain of sapphic desire, capturing non-masc-presenting dykes in the charged moment of putting on a strap. A gesture so often misread as dominance is reframed here as an offering—an exchange marked by intimacy and mutual vulnerability. By pausing at this threshold, the work traces the interplay of agency, desire, and exposure at the edge of encounter.
Guided by questions of power and vulnerability, the project asks how one holds power within cultural narratives that have historically disempowered them, and what unfolds when strapping echoes heterosexual scripts of conquest and control. Ten subjects will be interviewed about their relationships to providing pleasure, how this role weaves through feminine gender expression, and how their experiences shift across time and partners. These reflections will be translated into portraits that hold space for strapping as a mutual offering—rooted in generosity, intimacy, and the desire to give pleasure.
